Ministry & Mission
God gave the vision of a Honduras Mission to Sandtown in 2004, and the first team went in June, 2005. Bringing back heart wretching pictures of poverty, along with enthusiastic praise for how God was moving to bring many to Christ during the mission, another vision was given - namely building houses as a way to open the door of their heart for evangelism. We wanted to build earthly homes that they might see how much God loved them, so they would desire an eternal home. Thus, the "jelly house" ministry was launched.
One member of The Bible Sunday School Class makes homemade jam and jelly and sells it to finance the building of a house each year since 2005. In fact, this year two houses will be built. In addition to sending a team to Honduras to build a house each year, they also participate in medical teams, vacation bible school for the children, bible studies for the women, the Jesus film at night, as well as giving out seven or eight boxes of bibles. The Bible Class sends money to buy beds, a table and chairs, and cooking utensils for the family receiving the "jelly house". We also establish food accounts for families who are starving at the nearest village store for food for 6 months, or until we come again. Going to the same general area of about 6 villages, the team has established love and trust among the people and many have not only come to Christ, but are participating in discipling others. Our prayer is that through the Honduras missions, much fruit will remain.
